“Gazprom” resumes pumping gas to Italy via Austria

After suspending a few days ago owing to issues with transit across Austrian territory, the Russian corporation “Gazprom” announced today, Wednesday, that natural gas pumping to Italy through Austria has resumed.
In light of the legal changes that took place in Austria at the end of September 2022, the Russian company said that it was able to come up with a solution regarding the format of engagement with the help of Italian customers.

Prior to that, the Austrian Energy Company, which is in charge of handling Austria’s gas transportation, declared that it was prepared to approve requests for gas transportation to “Gazprom,” allowing for the resumed flow of Russian gas supplies through Austria.
Eni, an Italian energy company, has confirmed the restart of Russian natural gas imports.

Earlier, the media stated that the Russian firm “Gazprom” had informed the Italian corporation Eni that it would be impossible to pump Russian gas to Italy beginning on October 4.
The Russian corporation claims that issues with pumping natural gas across Austrian territory caused the stoppage of supply.
