The Kremlin comments on Kyiv closing the door to negotiations with Moscow

In response to Kyiv’s refusal to engage in talks with Moscow, the Kremlin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said that since talks require two parties, we must wait until the present Ukrainian president or his successor changes his stance.
According to the news website “Russia Today,” Peskov stated that since negotiations require the participation of two sides, there is no chance of an agreement being reached on Ukraine given Kyiv’s refusal to engage in dialogue.

In order to talk with Ukraine, he said, we must wait for Vladimir Zelensky, the country’s present president, or the president who will succeed him, to change his stance in favour of the Ukrainian people.

According to Peskov, the Russian side has been attempting to meet the demands put forth by the Russian Federation through “political, diplomatic, and peaceful channels of discussion” from the very beginning, even before the special military operation.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky signed a proclamation putting into effect the National Security and Defense Council’s decision not to engage in negotiations with Vladimir Putin.
