News from Al Madinah: The 39th Bridge Festival, which was organised by the Jordan Bridge Federation in collaboration with the Arab Federation, was held in conjunction with the Jordan International Festival, the thirteenth Arab Bridge Clubs Championship, and was under the patronage of Mr. Jan Kamras, President of the International Bridge Federation, Eng. Bahjat Majali, President of the Asian Bridge Federation, and Lawyer Ramzi Qusous, President of the Jordanian Bridge Federation.

The festival, which was supported by the Bank of Jordan, Al Ittihad Bank, National Paints, Yousef Muhib Haddad Company, Habash and Deir Company, the Tourism Promotion Authority, and the Jordan Olympic Committee, featured players from Arab and other nations. It was hosted in the W-Amman Hotel.

The presidents of the participating delegations, lawyer Ramzi Al-Qoussous, engineer Bahjat Al-Majali, the president of the Asian Bridge Federation, and the president of the Egyptian Federation were present for the closing ceremony.

The tournament’s organisation, excellent technical standard, large turnout from 16 nations, high level of professionalism displayed by the organisers and equipment, as well as the programme of tourism-related activities that went along with the tournament and benefited all participants and supported the Jordanian tourism industry, were all praised by the president of the International Federation.

The following were the winning teams, according to the engineer, Aida Abu Jaber, secretary of the Federation’s board of directors and media spokesperson:
Wadi Degla Club, which consists of Fatima Mandili, Amr Farraj, Mohamed Heshmat, Mina Milad, Mohamed Abdel Azim, and Maher Hefny, won the Arab Club Championship.

Kuwait Club, Lebanon Club, Egyptian Wadi Degla Club, Dubai Club, Egyptian Al-Ahly Club, Jordan Orthodox Club, Jordanian Bridge Association Club, and Saudi Al-Hilal Club were the clubs that took part.
The Kuwaiti squad, which also comprises Nabil Al-Husseini, Badr Al-Rifai, Ahmed Ruwaih, Wissam Jacob, and Imran Ali, took first place in the Open Team Championship.
Mariel Hitti and Tony Hashem of Lebanon triumphed in the open doubles, and Nawar Hashem of Jordan and Ahmed Al-Zein triumphed in the mixed doubles.
