Exporter of Chemical Industries: Demands Conclusion of a Preferential Trade Agreement with Tanzania

Mohamed Majid, the executive director of the Chemical Industries Export Council, revealed that the mission the council took to the Tanzanian market from September 25 to September 29 of 2022 had a number of successful outcomes. He called for the conclusion of a preferential trade agreement with Tanzania to lower customs tariffs on Egyptian exports, which will help increase our exports to them.

According to Majid, the objective to re-discover Egyptian items in the Tanzanian market after a long absence that allowed Asian products imported from India, Pakistan, China, Oman, and Yemen to dominate the market was successful since they were found to be suitable for the Tanzanian market.

“Majid” went on to say that because of the bilateral meetings that took place between Egyptian businesses and their Tanzanian counterparts, as well as the field trips to the markets, this visit enabled the Egyptian product to enter the Tanzanian market strongly, to boost its competitiveness, and to further promote it.

Majid emphasised that there are promising export opportunities in this market, but that the Egyptian exporter must understand that the presence in the Tanzanian market is not limited to the export of a number of containers, but instead needs the presence of the present goods. Majid pointed out that in order to achieve this, there must be the presence of companies Through their permanent headquarters or representative offices to display their products through their representatives, as well as their e-commerce websites.

Majeed emphasised the need for a logistic centre with representation or offices for Egyptian businesses in order to store the current items and remove barriers that prevent Egyptian businesses from entering the Tanzanian market.
