Agility contributes to the development of customs services and works in the Suez Canal

On the margins of the Egyptian-Kuwaiti Economic Forum in Cairo, the Suez Canal Economic Zone signed a contract with Agility Company for the establishment and management of logistics and customs business centres in the area.
Walid Gamal El-Din, the director of the Suez Canal’s economic zone, and Tariq Sultan, the vice-chairman of the company’s board of directors, both signed the deal.

Managing its own customs system entails using electronic tools that are compatible with the new customs system, automating processes and tasks within the region’s customs departments, and establishing a communication link with other government organisations engaged in the task of inspecting shipments.

With investments totaling $60 million, a logistics centre will be built on an area of 100,000 square metres in the industrial area of Sokhna, along with another centre on an area of 100,000 square metres in East Port Said, with the goal of facilitating trade, speeding up the incoming and outgoing operations of the region’s investors, and automating the customs procedures manual for their systems. Construction will soon start on the first phase.
