The Duma announces the boundaries of the new regions of Russia

The Russian State Duma declared that, in line with the treaties presented to the Council, the republics of Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye, and Kherson areas shall become a part of Russia within the borders that preexisted on the day of their inception.

The documents state that the boundaries of the Donetsk People’s Republic’s territory will be determined by the boundaries of its territories on the days that they were created and accepted into Russia, and the boundaries of the Lugansk People’s Republic will be determined by the boundaries that existed on those dates.

The boundaries of the Russian state are defined as the republic annexed to the territory of another state, and the boundaries of the provinces of Zaporozhye and Kherson are established by their borders on the dates of their foundation and admission into Russia, respectively.
On October 3, during its plenary meeting, the State Duma will consider draught constitutional laws pertaining to the Russian Federation’s admission of the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Lugansk People’s Republic, Kherson Province, and Zaporozhye Province.
