Netanyahu: Lapid shamefully surrendered to Nasrallah’s threats

From Al-Madina News: The head of the Israeli opposition, Benjamin Netanyahu, claimed that the current prime minister, Yair Lapid, “shamefully surrendered” to the threats made by the leader of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Hassan Nasr. He also emphasised that if he won the upcoming elections, the agreement would not be binding on him.

In response to Hassan Nasrallah’s threats, Lapid, according to Netanyahu, “surrendered in a shameful way, and he is giving Hezbollah a sovereign territory belonging to Israel with a huge gas field that belongs to you, the citizens of Israel, and he does this without a session in the Knesset or a public referendum.”

“Lapid is not entitled to gift a hostile country sovereign space and sovereign property that belongs to all of us, and if this illegal ploy is passed, it will not be binding on us, he continued in a tweet sent on his official Twitter account.
Benny Gantz, the Israeli defence minister, tweeted in response to Netanyahu, adding, “Bibi, don’t bother me; you simply follow reckless political motivations.

We’ll continue to responsibly protect the political, security, and economic interests of the State of Israel.
Netanyahu’s remarks followed those of Yair Lapid, who had suggested that Tel Aviv would not object to creating a second Lebanese gas field in exchange for receiving a financial part from it.

In the opening remarks of the weekly meeting of the Israeli government on the maritime border deal with Lebanon, Lapid noted that his government is now doing a final legal assessment of the agreement with Lebanon, with the understanding that the agreement will be delivered after that.
The Israeli Prime Minister stated that the terms of the deal will protect Israel’s interests and improve its security and economy at the beginning of the weekly government meeting.

Lapid stated, “We are considering the remaining elements. “It cannot be said that a definitive deal has been achieved, but the agreement respects all security interests as well as economic interests, as we have sought since the first day.
According to Lapid, this arrangement will strengthen Israel’s security and economy. He also said that the creation of a Lebanese gas field will reduce Hezbollah’s influence in the country, undermine Lebanon’s ties to Iran, and promote regional stability.
