The League of Arab States celebrates the International Day of Older Persons and pays tribute to these important groups in society

Every year on October 1, the world commemorates the International Day for Older Persons. At this time, the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs and the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, which oversees social affairs, pay tribute to this significant segment of Arab society and highlight the League of States system’s support for them. The Arab Summit on the Elderly, which took place at the highest levels of decision-making after the Arab Summit in the Republic of Tunisia in March 2019 approved the Arab strategy for the Elderly, was able to guarantee the rights of this significant segment of society and capitalise on their priceless experiences.
