Paris denies the ousted president of Burkina Faso sought refuge in a French base

According to Russia Today, the French Foreign Ministry declared that Paris does not harbour ousted Burkinabe President Paul-Henri Sandaugo Damiba at a military facility or meddle in local politics.
Also included in the statement from the Foreign Ministry was the following: “France officially denies any role in the events occurring in Burkina Faso since yesterday. Paul-Henri Sandaugo Damiba did not visit our embassy or the camp where the French forces are stationed.

In a televised statement, the military also said that Lieutenant Colonel Paul Henry Sandaugo Damiba, who had been in charge since the end of January following a coup, had been fired.
In addition, they proclaimed the suspension of the constitution and the collapse of the government, with the closing of land and air borders beginning at midnight.

Paris disputes that the former Burkina Faso president sought asylum on a French base.
