Pakistan: The United Nations is launching an appeal for 600 million dollars to recover from the effects of the floods

The United Nations is initiating a new humanitarian appeal for an additional $600 million to aid Pakistan in recovering from the impacts of the flood disaster, according to a statement from Pakistan’s Department of Economic Affairs.

The International Aid Coordination Committee for Flood Relief Activities held a follow-up meeting, according to what was reported by the Pakistani newspaper “The Dawn” today, Saturday. The Pakistani administration explained that this meeting, which was attended by representatives of numerous United Nations agencies and numerous foreign embassies, discussed mapping humanitarian aid and relief efforts.

According to the Economic Department, the United Nations will soon publish a humanitarian statement on October 4. to ask for an additional $600 million for emergency aid.
The United Nations submitted an appeal in August asking for a sum of 160 million dollars to fund humanitarian efforts, the Pakistani publication noted.
