Nasrallah: Lebanon is the decision-maker to demarcate the southern maritime borders

News from Al-Madina Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary general of the Lebanese Hezbollah, confirmed on Saturday that it is the responsibility of the Lebanese state to determine the southern maritime borders in the interests of the nation.
It will be obvious what the state officials’ stance is on the matter and where things are headed, according to Nasrallah, in the important days that lie ahead in this case.

“On the subject of maritime borders, we witnessed today that the presidents received the written text from the mediator and the state takes the decision it deems as in the interest of Lebanon,” said Hezbollah’s secretary general.
In a speech given at the memorial service for the late Sayyed Muhammad Ali Al-Amin in the southern Lebanese town of Shaqra, Nasrallah made the remarks.

Amos Hochstein, an American mediator, sent a letter to Lebanese President Michel Aoun earlier today outlining ideas for defining the maritime borders between Lebanon and Israel.
The Lebanese presidency made it clear that President Aoun met with Dorothy Shea, the US ambassador to Lebanon, and that she gave him a written communication from the American mediator regarding the proposals for delineating the southern maritime borders.

According to the president, “Aoun conferred with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Najib Mikati over the offer of the American mediator Hochstein, and how to move to give a Lebanese response as quickly as feasible.”
