Minimum wage increases in three of four Atlantic provinces

Three of the four provinces in the Atlantic have increased their minimum wages as of today.
The wage in New Brunswick has been raised by one dollar, making it the highest in the area at $13.75 per hour.
The hourly rate in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada’s most easterly province, has increased by 50 cents to $13.70.
The minimum wage in Nova Scotia increased by 25 cents to $13.60 per hour.

In Prince Edward Island, where the government had previously promised that the minimum wage will rise from $13.70 to $14.50 on January 1st, there was no increase in the rate.
The rates in P.E.I., Newfoundland and Labrador, and Nova Scotia are all expected to rise further, reaching $15 per hour in October 2023 and 2024, respectively.
