Hurricane Ian death toll rises to 44 in Florida

According to a revised death toll announced by the authorities on Saturday evening, Hurricane Ian claimed the lives of 44 people in Florida, in the southern United States.
The Florida coroner reported that “there are now 44 deaths directly related to Hurricane Ian.” The authorities had earlier reported that 25 people had died as a result of the typhoon.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement stated in a statement that many of the victims drowned. Greater human losses were mentioned in other media sites, and CNN stated that 45 individuals had passed away.
After wreaking havoc in Florida, Hurricane Ian is now moving swiftly toward South Carolina, where it is predicted to bring with it dangerously high water levels, powerful winds, and torrential rain.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement stated in a statement that many of the victims drowned.

In Florida, where the water level has risen to an unprecedented level, the number of material losses is “historic,” according to Ron DeSantis, the governor of the southeastern state.
Authorities in Kissimmee, close to Orlando, utilised Friday boats to rescue citizens stuck in their homes in flood-affected neighbourhoods as streets and residences were submerged and boats anchored in cities were carried away.

President Joe Biden had already spoken with DeSantis on Friday to discuss the disaster response, and according to White House spokesperson Karen Jean-Pierre, he stated that “the federal government will continue to act on behalf of the people of Florida.”
