Erdogan: We adhere to our firm position on the membership of Sweden and Finland in NATO

News from Al-Madina Swedish and Finnish membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, or “NATO,” will not change until those nations honour their promises to Ankara, according to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
This was stated by Erdogan in a speech he gave on Saturday while taking part in the beginning of the new legislative year in the Turkish Parliament in the nation’s capital, Ankara.

Until the promises given to our nation are kept, Erdogan stated, “We will retain our principled and hard stand in this area (Sweden and Finland’s membership in NATO).”
Notable events include the signing of a tripartite agreement between Turkey, Finland, and Sweden at the NATO summit on June 28 in Madrid, Spain, and the inaugural meeting of the permanent joint mechanism on August 26 in Vantaa, Finland.

Erdogan continued by saying that as a nation that has been waging a nearly 40-year war against terrorism and has seen tens of thousands of its citizens fall prey to it, Turkey is in no position to make concessions to anyone on the subject of terrorism.
He emphasised that Turkish security operations in northern Syria and Iraq stopped terrorists who supported secession from moving.

Erdogan stated, “Encouraging Greece to equip the islands goes against logic, comprehension, and the spirit of the partnership,” highlighting the fact that incitement and escalation strategies have never been for anyone’s advantage and never will be.

“We are well aware of those who set Greece free in order to attack us,” he continued, “and we declare at every chance that we are aware of the game being played against us. We encourage the Greek government to avoid provocations that could spell tragedy for it and its people.
Erdogan demanded that the isolation and embargo on Turkish Cypriots be lifted and that all promises made to them regarding the legitimacy and international recognition they rightfully deserve be honoured.

Erdogan highlighted the opposition of his nation to the US decision to relax the arms embargo imposed on the government of southern Cyprus.
Washington’s plan to extend its decision from the same month of 2020 to ease the arms embargo on the Greek Cypriot government for one year during the 2023 fiscal year was sharply criticised by the Turkish Foreign Ministry in mid-September.

Erdogan: The most successful period of Turkish diplomacy is currently taking place.
The most prosperous period in Turkish diplomacy, according to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is currently underway.
Erdogan emphasised that the world is currently experiencing a difficult time marked by famines, wars, crises, and instability.
And he suggested that the globe is heading in the direction of a massive spiral that endangers social harmony, humankind’s desire for peace, and democratic advancements.

He went on, “The country most impacted by these events is Turkey, which is situated at the intersection of three continents. As a result, it does not have the luxury of shutting off, secluding itself from the outside world, and only following local happenings.”
In light of these circumstances, he emphasised that Turkey is working hard to fulfil its obligations to its allies, brothers, and people.

The Turkish president stated that his nation is taking a proactive and constructive approach to resolving international and regional issues.
Turkish diplomacy is currently in its most prosperous era, I say that with great pride, Erdogan remarked.
We don’t give in to pressure, just as we don’t seek friction, he continued.
“We vigorously defend Turkey’s rights and interests in all spheres with an honourable, patient, firm, and smart posture,” the speaker concluded.

Turkey has developed into a diplomatic force whose opinions and suggestions are taken into account on a global scale, and which provides answers to issues as a mediator and facilitator.
Through its 255 overseas representatives, he claimed that Turkey had one of the top 5 diplomatic networks in the world.

Regarding the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Erdogan emphasised that his nation’s position on the situation in Ukraine is the most recent illustration of how Turkey’s foreign policy prioritises peace, stability, and people and human life.
He emphasised that his nation sought to put a stop to the conflict rather than escalating it by choosing the path of peace, negotiation, and just governance in the conflict that erupted between its two neighbours.

He said that the deal reached as a consequence of Ankara’s efforts in relation to the grain supply arrangement with Ukraine is “one of the biggest successes accomplished by the United Nations with a dubious reputation.”
