The Security Council fails to pass a draft resolution condemning the annexation of Ukrainian territory to Russia

The UN Security Council was unable to adopt a draught resolution on Friday denouncing the annexation of Ukrainian territory by the Russian Federation because Russia exercised its veto, while China abstained.
10 council members voted in support of the draught resolution, while Russia abstained and 4 nations, including China, opposed it.

The UN Security Council’s session began with a draught resolution condemning Russia’s announcement of the annexation of Ukrainian lands, which urged all nations and other organisations to “not recognise the false annexation” of the four regions. The resolution was prepared by the United States and Albania.

A draught resolution denouncing Russia’s acquisition of Ukrainian land is not adopted by the Security Council.
