Revolutionary Guards: 3 Basij militants were killed in Zahedan clashes

The battles that occurred yesterday in the city of Zahedan in the southeast resulted in the deaths of three members of the Guard and Mobilization Forces (Basij), the Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated today, Saturday.
According to the Revolutionary Guards’ ground forces’ public relations department, 32 other people were hurt in the fighting in Zahedan, the province of Sistan and Baluchestan’s capital. This information was provided by the Iranian news agency, IRNA.

Seyed Ali Mousavi, the head of intelligence for the Revolutionary Guards in Sistan and Baluchestan province, was one of the three fatalities.
Hussain Mudarres Khyabani, the governor of Sistan and Baluchestan, reported on Friday that there had been 19 fatalities and 20 injuries as a result of the city’s unrest.

It is noteworthy that dozens of people lost their lives and were injured as a result of the protests that broke out in various parts of Iran about two weeks ago in response to the death of the young woman, Mahsa Amini, who was detained after being arrested by the morality police on the grounds that she did not wear the legal veil. Mahsa Amini died while in custody.

Her passing sparked outrage in Iran over a number of issues, including personal freedom restrictions and stringent dress codes for women, as well as the country’s ongoing living and economic crisis. This is in addition to the strict regulations imposed by the regime and the country’s political system as a whole. Women took a significant role in those demonstrations, and demonstrators waved and torched their headscarves.

It was estimated that 1,500 people were killed (according to Reuters) in crackdowns against protesters during the recent rallies, which have spread to dozens of cities around the nation and still include people from diverse races and socioeconomic groups.

3 Basij militants were killed in fighting in Zahedan, according to the Revolutionary Guards.
