The billionaire hoped to move beyond self-driving vehicles, which have yet to materialise despite repeated claims about them, by asserting that the robotics industry will be more valuable than cars.
A robot prototype entered the stage and waved to the audience.
The robot was seen in a video clip moving rods, carrying a crate, and watering plants at the automaker’s factory.
At the event, Musk stated, “Our goal is to develop a functional human-like robot as rapidly as feasible.”

“Optimus still has to be improved and proven, there is a lot of work to be done.”
Humanoid robots now “lack a brain, don’t have the intelligence to travel the world on their own, are pricey, and are created in low quantities,” according to Musk. They are also “made in low quantities.”
In contrast, he claimed, Optimus would be a “really good robot” that would be produced in enormous quantities—possibly millions of units—and be expected to be considerably less expensive than a car or to cost less than $20,000 per unit.

Robots may one day be employed in households to make meals, mow the grass, look after the elderly, and even be companions for people, according to Elon Musk.
