On Friday in the United States, Hurricane Ian made landfall in South Carolina.
As a Category 4 hurricane and a tropical storm, Ian caused damage along the southwest Florida coast.
Later, as it approached the coast of North Carolina, the storm grew stronger and developed into a hurricane.
The newest National Hurricane Center advice predicts that later on the Carolina coast, hurricane impacts and potentially fatal storm surges may occur.
On Friday evening and Saturday, Ian, a Category 1 hurricane, will advance inland as far as North Carolina.
