Expert: Europe without Russian gas will lose its prosperity

Ilya Kalenkov, the general director of the business “European Electrical Equipment,” predicted that Europe will eventually be able to live without Russian electricity, but only at the expense of its standard of living and economy.
In an interview with “Novosti Agency,” he stated that it is possible to confidently state that Europe would be able to survive without Russian resources.

But how much will that cost? Naturally, it is feasible to heat your home with wood in general and boast that you avoided using Russian gas. Your production may be shut down or relocated to America. Obviously, there will be less of a demand for Russian gas here and less dependence on it. However, the issue at hand is not how to survive without it, but rather how to maintain both the economy and standard of living.

The expert claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the United States is pressuring the European Union to give up energy and other Russian resources, which results in a decline in industrialization in Europe, in order to “complete control of the European market,” at the signing ceremony of the treaties on the accession of new regions to Russia yesterday, Friday. The European elites are aware of this, President Putin continued, but choose to further the interests of others.

According to Kalinkov, the cost of electricity is a key factor in all significant industries, including the manufacture of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, fertiliser, and automobiles. As a result, European industries are no longer competitive due to the extraordinary rise in gas and electric energy prices.

Complete reliance on Russian supplies will result in the collapse of the European economy and the degree of industrial development, which will then raise unemployment and lower the standard of living in the area.
He continued, saying: “Yes, in Europe there are some quantities of coal, and even gas in some locations. But right now there is no alternative energy source that can compete with Russian pipeline gas.

In contrast to the actual needs, however, their volumes on the scale of the European economy are extremely tiny.
He said, “Of course, with time anything may be overcome, and a new reality is built,” expressing his hope that possibly Europe can construct nuclear power facilities, which will take between 10 and 15 years.

It is also conceivable to produce solar and wind energy, but this is only beneficial for a single machine and will not, either immediately or later, aid in the solution of widespread issues.”
According to the expert, “Maybe they can work out a deal with the Arabs. It’s possible that significant developments in alternative energy and technology will take place.

But in my judgement, the European industry in particular and the European economy in general have nothing positive in store for the next three years.
