European Union: We will never recognize Russia’s annexation of Ukrainian regions

European Union leaders denounced the action after Russian President Vladimir Putin signed agreements on Friday about the four regions of Ukraine that are under his control: Lugansk, Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhia.
They accused the Kremlin of jeopardising international security and emphasised that they would never recognise this illegitimate annexation.

According to AFP, the presidents of the 27 nations also emphasised in a statement how they vehemently opposed and strongly condemned the annexation.
The European Council responded by declaring the Russian rulings “null and void” and “unable to have any legal impact whatsoever.”
Additionally, he emphasised that within its internationally acknowledged borders, Ukraine has the right to retake control of its “occupied” areas.

Putin proclaimed the annexation of the four territories earlier today, in front of a sizable crowd that included lawmakers, MPs, ministers, and senior military officers. The audience repeatedly stopped him with applause as he added, “We have four new areas.”

Then, in front of prominent people, Putin formally signed the decrees, shook hands with the governors of the regions ruled by Russian forces who had been chosen by Moscow, and sang “Russia, Russia!” with them.
And today, three days after the conclusion of hurriedly planned referendums in these cities, there was this celebration (from September 23 to 27).

Considering that they were “taken at gunpoint,” Kyiv and the Western countries branded these voting processes as fraudulent and illegitimate.
It is notable that Moscow will increase its authority over almost 17% of Ukrainian territory by formally signing this annexation, even though the international community will not acknowledge it.

We in the European Union will never acknowledge Russia’s annexation of portions of Ukraine.
