Ahmed Boli Grad, the governor of Gedo region in the state of Jubbaland in southern Somalia, claimed that ten people were killed while digging a well to help those affected by the drought that hit several regions in the south and centre of the country. He added that the terrorists launched an armed attack against the excavation crew at the work site and burned their bodies and equipment. Al-Shabaab is a terrorist organisation with ties to Al-Qaeda.
Grad noted in words published by the Somali News Agency today that the terrorist militia’s actions continue to slaughter the local population, which need immediate humanitarian aid, in a manner that is contrary to the true teachings of Islam and Somali culture.
It is significant that the Somali army and the popular revolt are inflicting painful blows on the terrorist Al-Shabab group, which has caused it to lose control of various places that it had previously held.
