In Florida, where the water level has risen to an unprecedented level, the number of material losses is “historic,” according to Ron DeSantis, the governor of the southeastern state.
Boats docked in the cities were washed away, and streets and residences were submerged. Authorities used boats Friday to rescue residents trapped in their homes in flooded neighbourhoods in Kissimmee, close to Orlando.

According to White House spokeswoman Karen Jean-Pierre, President Joe Biden spoke with DeSantis once more on Friday to discuss the disaster response and pledged that “the federal government will continue to act on behalf of the people of Florida.”
Ian has been downgraded to Category One and is now bringing 140 km/h gusts and the potential for “fatal sea floods” along the beaches of South Carolina and North Carolina.

The National Hurricane Center placed the whole coast, from Georgia to North Carolina, on notice, according to a message they released.
According to the same organisation, the hurricane is predicted to make landfall in South Carolina on Friday afternoon and then “weaken rapidly” as it moves forward between Friday and Saturday.
