A new jump in flour prices today, Friday.. Find out the details

Today, on Friday, September 30, 2022, the price of flour increased noticeably at the end of the month. A tonne of protein 24 flour saw an increase of about 750 pounds, a tonne of protein 27 flour saw an increase of about 700 pounds, and a tonne of fine flour saw an increase of about 1000 pounds with wholesalers.

In addition to the aforementioned, the cost of flour delivery in Egypt today is 11,400 pounds rather than 10,700 pounds per tonne of flour protein 27 for owners of French, tourist, and Tabqa bakeries, and it is 14,000 pounds rather than 13,000 pounds for Al-Fakher.

What is behind the increase in the cost of flour in Egypt?
The Grain Chamber of the Federation of Egyptian Industries previously disclosed the causes of the inflated increase in flour, including the fact that 80% of the free flour mills in several governorates had completely ceased operations due to the difficulty in locating the wheat they required to continue operating in light of the dollar provision crisis.

The memo, which was sent to the prime minister, the ministers of trade and industry, supply, and internal trade, noted that since September 7th, only small amounts of wheat—no more than 3,000 tonnes at most—have been delivered to private sector mills, despite the fact that it typically consumes 450–500 thousand tonnes per month.

The Russian-Ukrainian war, which affects both of the largest nations from which wheat is imported for the Egyptian domestic market, is one of the primary causes of the increase in the price of flour in Egypt.
