Zakharova: The issue of resuming inspection activities under the START-3 treaty is being considered

According to Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, the topic of restarting inspection efforts under the START-3 treaty is being discussed between Moscow and Washington. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, its resume is being thought about, and there is a conversation on how the parties may get back to fully implementing this section of the treaty through appropriate means.

She stated that the Bilateral Advisory Committee on the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty is the main topic of discussion between the United States and Russia under the context of “START-3.”
“The committee continues to debate the organisational and technological issues that must be solved from a distance. It is now looking into the possibility of holding its meeting in person,” she continued.

She emphasised that while some difficulties had been resolved, others had seen substantial advancement.
However, a number of substantial obstacles still exist as a result of the US and its allies’ destructive actions against Russia.
