Serbian PM vows to maintain path of non-sanctions against Russia

After speaking with her Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida in Tokyo on Wednesday, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic declared that her country has not and would not impose sanctions on Russia.
“The topic of Ukraine comes up frequently in these political gatherings, including with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and everyone is keen to learn Serbia’s stance on it.

Are sanctions on Russia going to be implemented or not, and why haven’t they already? This is an excellent chance to reiterate Serbia’s steadfast stance. We joined the UN in announcing the General Assembly resolution that denounced the military operation in Ukraine, so our position is not neutral. We did not and do not wish to impose sanctions on Russia, which is the main difference. Tass, a Russian news agency.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic had earlier stated in a speech following the UN Security Council meeting that Serbia supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine but will not impose sanctions on Russia.
Due to Western sanctions against Russia, 202 individual entrepreneurs and 86 companies with Russian ownership or participation have registered their businesses in Serbia, according to the Unified Register of Legal Entities and Entrepreneurs in Serbia.

Serbian PM promises to continue on Russia’s non-sanctions route
