Puslinch council approves new name for Swastika Trail

A private road in Puslinch Township has a new name.
Holly Trail will replace Swastika Trail after years of contention over the previous name.
Council established a policy in July that permitted locals to suggest new names for streets, and on Wednesday, it voted four to one in favour of changing the name.
Coun. John Sepulis claims that he first put forward a motion to rename the street in 2017 but that it was turned down. He is happy to see the “offensive” name altered, though.

James Seeley, the mayor of the township, who opposed the name change, says he agrees with the decision made.
Randy Guzar, who resides on Swastika Trail, says he is relieved that his efforts have finally succeeded in getting the street’s name changed after fighting for the change for almost 20 years.
There were other ideas for a new street name, including the first suggested Cedar Trail.
The township, however, has decided to rename it Holly Trail. .

Swastika Trail’s new name is approved by the Puslinch Council.
