The Russian Defense Ministry stated today, Sunday, that the Kyiv government and its Western backers intended to seize control of the Zaporozhye nuclear facility in conjunction with the presence of an International Atomic Energy Agency mission.

The ministry stated in a statement, which was carried by Russia Today, that preparations for this step had been taken and that it was required to pick properly educated media professionals from Ukraine, the United States of America, and Britain for this purpose.

She said that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky mentioned the presence of automobiles for Ukrainian media accompanying the International Atomic Energy Agency convoy.

The ministry stated that Kyiv attempted to carry out this provocation in violation of the scenario agreed upon within the scope of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) mission to ensure its safety and security.

She stated that entry to Russian-controlled area in the Zaporozhye region will be tightly limited to names supplied to the Russian Ministry of Defense by the United Nations Department of Safety and Security.

According to the ministry, there were no Ukrainian media representatives who wished to follow the UN mission cars, thus anybody who was not on the agreed-upon lists was halted and not permitted to pass.
