US announces plans to sell $1.1 billion in arms to Taiwan

The US State Department announced three $1 billion contracts for weapons sales and technical services to Taiwan on Friday.
She stated that the first deal, costing $664 million, is for the deployment of radar station equipment and logistical assistance in Taiwan. The second deal, at $355 million, is for 60 AGM-84L Harpoon Block II anti-ship missiles and four ATM-84L-1 Harpoon Block II missiles.

The third deal, for $85.6 million, is for 100 AIM-9X Block II Sidewinder tactical air-to-air missiles.
These agreements, which were issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in conformity with national legislation, were approved for implementation.
The United States government has previously informed Congress of its conclusions. The US Congress now has 30 days to evaluate the new treaties.
