Lebanese Minister of Transport: Beirut Airport will remain resistant to all attempts to undermine it

According to the National News Agency for Lebanon, the Minister of Public Works and Transport in Lebanon’s caretaker government, Ali Hamiyeh, “Rafik Hariri International Airport in Beirut is Lebanon’s gateway to the world, and it has always been and will remain resistant to all attempts to undermine it, both internally and externally.”

And he went on to say, “Our bet on expanding the movement in it was accurate, because it was only in nine months, practically a complete year, and its revenues have lately climbed at an increasing speed.”

The caretaker government’s Minister of Transport had previously announced the preparation of a new draught law for Lebanon’s ports sector to ensure that they remain state property and prohibit the sale of assets, emphasising that the operation will be by the private sector in a way that stimulates and encourages investments from outside Lebanon and works to attract dollars to the country.

Hamiyah emphasised that the new project will serve as a new legal framework for all ports in the same legal form so that they remain as Lebanese state-owned infrastructure, equipment, and others with the possibility of providing services through the private sector, explaining that the law will regulate partnership with the private sector within a clear legal framework.
