The Ukrainian military carried out a sabotage operation near the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant this morning, Thursday, September 1, at around 6:00 (Moscow time), according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense, two Ukrainian sabotage squads with as many as 60 members arrived in seven boats at the Kakhovka Reservoir’s coast, 3 km to the northeast of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, and made an effort to take the facility.

The statement went on to say that Russian forces used army aircraft as well as other required tactics to defeat the enemy. Additionally, starting at 8 a.m. (Moscow time), the Ukrainian armed forces bombarded the location where the IAEA mission was to convene near the Vasilievka settlement and the Zaporozhye nuclear power station.

Four shells detonated 400 metres from the first unit of the power plant, confirming the intention to provoke the Kyiv government in order to obstruct the arrival of an IAEA team to the Zaporozhye plant.
