He added that the drone was being towed by an Iranian Revolutionary Guard vehicle, while a US ship and chopper were approaching the location.
According to a US military official quoted by the Associated Press, the Navy made multiple calls to the Iranians, who finally abandoned the drone.

The US puts the Iranian Revolutionary Guards on its list of terrorist groups, which it has repeatedly demanded that Tehran remove.
