One soldier killed and 28 terrorists neutralized in two operations in Burkina Faso

According to a statement published by the General Staff on Monday, a soldier was killed and at least 28 terrorists were neutralised on Sunday during two separate operations in northern and eastern Burkina Faso.
The army reported that following terrorist harassment of (Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland Civil Aides) posts near Siba (north) on Sunday, the military detachment in this region launched a counter-attack in which a soldier was killed.

According to the statement, the forces engaged with terrorists repeatedly throughout the counterattack, which allowed them to deconstruct two sites and fight a terrorist logistical operation, and at least 18 of them were killed and equipment was taken.
According to the statement, special troops supported by the air force launched an operation on a big terrorist facility in Soam in the eastern area on Sunday.

Al-Qaeda has been entirely decimated, and at least ten terrorists have been eliminated.
These troops are also on the lookout for other fugitives.
According to the army, weapons, vehicles, communications equipment, and camping equipment were recovered, and people were urged to improve cooperation with military and security agencies by denouncing terrorists who want to hide among them.

Burkina Faso, whose troops seized control in January and swore to prioritise battling jihadists, has been seeing a cycle of violence since 2015, ascribed to armed extremist groupings that professed allegiance to al-Qaeda and ISIS, killing thousands and displacing almost two million people.
According to official data, more than 40% of the country’s land is not under the authority of the state.
