The US Fifth Fleet stated that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards had captured and later released a US drone in the Gulf.
According to Timothy Hawkins, a Fifth Fleet spokesperson, the mishap saw a Revolutionary Guards ship attempt to take an American drone, saying that the Revolutionary Guards ship was tugging the plane from behind when a ship and a US Navy helicopter approached it.
He stated that the Navy contacted the Iranians several times before releasing the drone.
