First US death of monkeypox recorded in Texas

On Tuesday, the Texas Department of Health Services confirmed the death of the first individual afflicted with monkeypox in the United States.
According to The Hill, an American publication, the patient was an adult residing in Harris County with severe immunodeficiency, and officials are probing the involvement of the virus in his death.
According to Texas Health Commissioner John Hillersted, monkeypox is especially deadly for persons with compromised immune systems.

We continue to warn individuals to seek medical attention if they have been exposed to monkeypox or develop symptoms associated with the disease, he said.
As of Monday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had verified that more than 18,000 instances of the virus had been registered in the United States.

The first monkeypox death in the United States was documented in Texas.
