Al-Sisi: We are ready to make any joint effort to end the escalation in Iraq

According to the Egyptian presidential spokesperson, President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi reiterated his country’s full support for Iraq during a phone chat with his Iraqi counterpart.
Al-Sisi emphasised the need of remaining on the path of communication and understanding, as well as putting Iraq’s national interests above all else in order to preserve the country’s security, stability, and sovereignty.

The Egyptian president further reaffirmed Egypt’s willingness to participate to any united effort to halt any escalation and conflicts, with the Arab brothers.
The Iraqi presidency, for its part, revealed in a statement that President Barham Salih had received a phone call from his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi following the violent episodes in Baghdad on Monday.

And the Iraqi presidency stated in a statement that Sisi informed Saleh that the Egyptian leadership is watching developments in Iraq with interest because the two nations have a fraternal connection.
Al-Sisi also voiced hope for resolving the political situation via dialogue and achieving peace, security, and prosperity for Iraqis.

According to AFP, Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr announced his retirement from politics today, prompting hundreds of his enraged followers to assault the government palace and skirmishes with security forces, killing 12 people and two Iraqi army troops in the Green Zone confrontations.
In reaction to the violence, the Iraqi military ordered a statewide curfew and the interim prime minister cancelled cabinet proceedings.

Al-Sadr announced earlier today, via Twitter, that he had retired from political work and closed his current offices, following months of stumbling in the countrys political scene, and stumbled in electing a president of the republic and forming a new government, due to the intransigence of Sadrs opponents from the pro-Iranian coordination framework.
