The Greek coast guard reported receiving a distress call from the boat on Monday when it was travelling between the islands of Crete and Antikythera.

He went on to say that a passing cargo ship saved 69 passengers, including 61 Iranians, two Afghans, and six Turks, and that they were carried to the shore of the southern mainland city of Kalamata on Saturday.
The six Turks were detained on suspicion of smuggling migrants.
