The UAE begins operating an air bridge of aid to Pakistan

The relief package comprises shelter supplies, humanitarian requirements, food and medication kits for people impacted by heavy rains and floods, with the goal of helping to relief operations and meeting the needs of the afflicted community.

According to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, this help falls within the scope of UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s instruction to give all types of assistance to the Pakistani people as a result of the recent floods in Pakistan.

According to Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al Zaabi, UAE Ambassador to Pakistan, the first Emirati relief aid plane flew to Pakistan on Monday morning, carrying various food and shelter aids, and will be followed by a number of other aid planes in the coming days to help mitigate the effects of the recent floods and torrential rains in Pakistan.

The provision of this assistance, according to Al Zaabi, confirms the strength and solidity of relations between the two countries, and that the UAE has contributed over the years to alleviating the severity of many humanitarian crises that Pakistan has experienced, particularly those related to natural disasters.

He emphasised that the UAE’s humanitarian assistance extends to all impacted populations across the world, based on the UAE’s worldwide humanitarian responsibility, whose values were put forth by the founder, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
