Tunisian President: “TICAD 8” confirmed that Tunisia is a state of institutions and capable of hosting all international conferences

Tunisian President Kais Saied stated that the eighth summit of the Tokyo International Conference on Development in Africa, TICAD 8, held by his country, demonstrated that Tunisia is an institution-based country capable of hosting any international conferences and meetings.
This was said by Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi at a news conference held today, Sunday, in the Carthage Hall in the capital, Tunis, following the conclusion of the summit’s second and final day of activity.

Some African peoples live in inhumane conditions for internal reasons related to the absence of the role of the state at times, institutions, democracy, and the rule of law, but there are external reasons that African countries did not fully exercise their right to self-determination after their independence based on the choices of their peoples, and solutions can be reached regarding Africa and humanity as a whole, in partnership with friends of the UN.

He continued, “There must be the rule of law at home, but there must also be the rule of law at an international level based on the United Nations Charter, justice, and acceptance of coexistence,” emphasising that solutions cannot be circumstantial, but must be based on a comprehensive approach to the conditions in the world today, which have developed in particular.

We have all lived through the Corona pandemic in the last two years, which has highlighted the unacceptable disparities in the necessary public facilities related to human rights, such as the right to health, education, social security, peace, and the equitable distribution of wealth at home and globally.

The Tunisian president inquired, “Can’t the loans that have been concluded over decades be capitalised to create riches again?”
Saeed emphasised the need of working to retrieve the plundered monies, which totaled to billions of dollars and only a fraction of which were returned, stating, “Our money, our riches, and our capabilities are overseas.”

He went on to say that after independence, there was a goal to establish the Organization of African Unity and the African Union; we want a real union and complete collaboration with Japan and other nations that share our legitimate ambitions for a brighter future.

He emphasised that the African continent has suffered greatly and continues to suffer, and violence has accumulated in it recently, saying: “Unfortunately, the situation in Libya has exploded again, and it is a Libyan-Libyan issue, and the solution can only come from the Libyans themselves, without any external interference.”

Saeed discussed immigration, emphasising that in the past, individuals who moved abroad and had favourable financial conditions returned to their African nations to develop the motherland, but today we are experiencing an opposite movement the season of migration to the north.

Because they were unable to realise their objectives for their nations’ growth, he asked: “The finest talents and competences travel to the northern half of the world, therefore who lends whom?” And the Tunisian president emphasised the need of working together with African allies to create a brighter future for all of mankind.

Which has reached a new stage of history, stating: “The world now is facing new scenarios such as violence, and economic, social, and international conditions that are no longer consistent with mankind’s evolution.”

Tunisia’s President: TICAD 8 confirmed that Tunisia is an institution-rich state capable of hosting all major conferences.
