Putin signs decree allowing citizens of Ukraine to reside in Russia indefinitely

On Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a presidential order enabling inhabitants of Donetsk and Luhansk, as well as Ukrainians, to remain on Russian territory forever, as well as work without the requirement for a work permit.
According to the Russian news outlet “TASS,” the decree document indicates that “residents of Donetsk, Luhansk, and Ukraine are entitled to remain in Russia temporarily without a set time restriction.

The statement also recommended that residents of the aforementioned countries undergo fingerprinting, imaging, and medical testing to ensure that they are not drug users or otherwise infected with HIV or other contagious diseases (AIDS).

The decision by the Russian president is designed to protect citizens’ rights and liberties in accordance with the Russian Constitution regarding the legal status of foreigners within the Russian Federation, according to the document.
