A nurse was held in Cordoba on suspicion of being involved in at least two newborn babies’ deaths in a hospital, according to a statement from the Argentine Public Prosecutors Office on Saturday.
Raul Garson, the public prosecutor, who is investigating the deaths of five healthy newborns in a hospital in Cordoba, 700 kilometres to the northwest of Buenos Aires, requested that Brenda Agero, 27, be jailed.

While the medical records of three further newborns were being evaluated, Garson alerted the local media that the nurse had been charged with the murder of two children.
He continued by claiming that an excess of potassium was found and that the infants died as a result of having a substance that is incompatible with life in their bodies.
The public prosecutor reported that eight more newborns’ health had gotten worse but they were still alive.

He claimed that both the mothers and the deceased children had been in good health during birth.
The deaths happened between March and June, but it wasn’t until the grandmother of one of the dead kids complained on June 6 that the incident came to light.
Garson said there was evidence to support the suspect’s guilt.

Nine people have been suspended this month as a result of an investigation into whether the child deaths were brought on by homicide, negligence, or misconduct. The nurse is one of them.
Charges of negligence and duty violation have been brought against three former hospital executives.
