Head of the Chest Department at Qasr Al-Aini: Telemedicine is necessary in these cases

Dr. Ayman El-Sayed Salem, Professor and Head of the Chest Department at Al-Qasr Al-Ainy, highlighted the value of telemedicine, in which the patient is interviewed in any contemporary manner and the doctor talks with them remotely to diagnose the illness.
In an exclusive statement to Al-Fajr, a professor and the chairman of the chest department at Al-Qasr Al-Aini acknowledged that telemedicine is widely used in industrialised nations and that there are significant efforts being made to introduce it in Egypt.

Despite the fact that there is a costly remote-controlled headset, Salem noted, it is not reasonable to send it to a patient for examination. In any case, this technology is still not yet available in Egypt.

Because it is not in the public interest for a mixture to occur between People are in clinics and hospitals, and even we as doctors have been advising that as soon as you feel symptomatic, you should see a doctor, he said. However, telemedicine was applied during the Corona crisis because many people avoided going to the doctor and were satisfied only by sending messages to the doctor.

He also underlined how wonderful it would be if we could make a diagnosis remotely.
Salem emphasised that telemedicine regulations are currently being prepared as a result of the proliferation of diseases and epidemics; these laws have previously been addressed in the Medical Syndicate and are currently being reviewed by the Ministry of Health and all other relevant parties.

He continued by saying that it is ethical to use remote detection when a patient is interested in it, particularly if the patient lives in a remote area. Telemedicine enables this patient to receive therapy without visiting a doctor.
