Global Health: Recording one million deaths this year means that we have not coexisted with Corona

Maria Van Kerkhove, chief of the World Health Organization’s expert panel on the Corona virus, declared in a new statement that the time has come for a realistic review of the Corona pandemic after tracking one million fatalities from the illness this year 2022.
This outcome is distressing, according to Maria Van Kerkhove, because diagnoses, treatments, immunizations, and public health initiatives are all available to manage the infection.

It’s even more tragic because we’re in the third year of the pandemic and have the tools to actually avoid these deaths. Maria went on to say, in a direct engagement via the World Health Organization’s social media channels, that the statistics had taken many of us by surprise.

We need a realistic analysis, we really need to analyse where we are today, we should not be in a position where 14,000 to 15,000 people die every week, and Maria Van Kerkhove emphasised that the pandemic is not yet done, but it can be put an end while people continue about their everyday lives.
We simply need to be a little more cautious about it, she added, since a lot of people talk about living with Corona, but we have to live with it correctly.

She said, “One million deaths this year is not responsible coexistence with Corona,” and “15,000 deaths per week is not responsible coexistence with Corona.”
According to the most current World Health Organization data, Corona has killed 6.45 million people worldwide since the first instances were detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, China, and more than 5. 3 million additional cases were reported to the organisation last week.

Maria Van Kerkhove noted, “These are big numbers, and this is less than the truth, given that home tests do not enter the data.” She went on to say, “We see this virus spreading rapidly over the world,” and expressed sadness that the Corona virus had not left us.

Global Health: With one million fatalities this year, we have not coexisted with Corona.
