Zelensky to the Security Council: Stop Russia from nuclear blackmail

On Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced at a United Nations Security Council meeting focused on Ukraine that Russia had fired missiles at a railway station in the central Ukrainian region of Dnipropetrovsk, calling for sanctions against Russia to prevent it from engaging in nuclear blackmail.
Every day is like this for us. This is how Russia prepared for the UN meeting, Zelensky explained via video connection.

He also stated that there were dead and injured as a result of the missile attacks, warning that the death toll might grow.
He asked the Security Council to put pressure on Russia to end nuclear blackmail, and he also asked the IAEA to continuously monitor the Zaporizhia facility.
Zelensky’s statement followed a touching speech he delivered on the occasion of Ukraine’s 31st anniversary of independence. As the country reached its sixth month of combat with Russia, he addressed the people.

He said that Ukraine had been resurrected following the Russian invasion on February 24, emphasising that it will never give up its battle and will fight Russia till the end.
In the taped address, which was posted on his social media sites, he also stated that Kyiv will reclaim Crimea, which Moscow annexed in 2014, as well as all occupied territory in the east. We will retake Donbass and Crimea at whatever cost, he declared.

Furthermore, he emphasised that his country is now pursuing victory against Russia in order to finish the conflict, not peace, as he put it.
Yesterday, Zelensky acknowledged that Ukrainian soldiers are still fighting them and that they have no alternative except to destroy the Russian army and recapture Crimea.

He also announced the cancellation of broad public Independence Day festivities, fearing Russian strikes on the capital, Kyiv, after Washington intimated that the Russians were preparing for impending strikes on government structures and civilian institutions in the coming days.

It is worth noting that the conflict between the two parties entered its seventh month today, amid speculation that it will last for months, while battles are slowing east and south, following the previous progress of Russian forces in the Donbas region, their advance in some southern cities, and then their retreat.
.

Stop Russia’s nuclear blackmail, says Zelensky to the Security Council.
