The Cairo International Film Festival announced that the Egyptian actress Lebleba would be honoured with the Golden Pyramid Award for Lifetime Achievement during its next session in November, in recognition of her career spanning film, theatre, television, and performance.
In a statement issued today, the festival’s president, actor Hussein Fahmy, said, “This is a worthy tribute to an artist who has spent her life presenting dozens of cinematic works with love and sincerity, and made every effort to make what she presents worthy of being shown to an audience who loves her appearance on the charming screen.”
He said, “Despite her contributions throughout the years, she continues to enhance the business with her involvement, and she still has a lot to contribute.”
Since her debut appearance on the screen as a youngster in 1951, Lebleba has appeared in about 100 films, as well as a number of television and radio shows.
Her most famous films include (The Devil Who Loved Me), (Hot Night), (Against the Government), (Paradise of Devils), (Ostrich and Peacock), and (His Excellency the Minister), as well as a series of films with Adel Imam, including (Some go to the authorised twice) and (Be mindful of your neighbours), (Hamada and Toto gang), and (His Excellency the Minister) (Groom from a security side).
According to the release, Lebleba, who has already been recognised at other local and Arab film festivals, described the Cairo Film Festival recognising her as “the diamond that crowns her artistic career.”
The 44th Cairo International Film Festival will take place between November 13 and November 22. The festival’s organisers previously revealed that Egyptian filmmaker Kamela Abu Zekry, as well as Hungarian director Bella Tar, had received the Faten Hamama Excellence Award.
Lebleba’s career was recognised at the Cairo Film Festival with the award “A Life’s Achievement.”
