The largest fertiliser manufacturer in Poland has halted operations.

The largest Polish fertiliser manufacturer, Azoty, has reportedly stopped producing a variety of products as a result of the rise in natural gas prices, according to the Polish company’s press office.
A corporate statement claims that as of August 23, 2022, production of nitrogenous fertilisers, caprolactam, and polyamide 6 will temporarily cease due to the record-high cost of natural gas, the main raw material used in Azoty Group manufacturing.

The company reports that the price of natural gas has increased dramatically in recent years, from 72 euros per megawatt hour on February 22 to 276 euros per megawatt hour on August 22.
The company also said it would keep producing concentrated nitric acid, thermoplastic starch, humic acids, polyamide shells, and catalysts.
The company announced that during the period of production halt, maintenance activities, including the repair of polyamide factories, will be conducted.
