The Italian tourist who had monkeypox while on vacation in Cuba died. The victim was a 50-year-old carabiniere on holiday in Cuba with a group of friends.
The man died on Sunday evening. He arrived on the island with a group of friends on August 15th. Only two days later, he began to feel poorly, and he was hospitalised on August 18. His health deteriorated while he was in critical care.

According to the islands’ Ministry of Public Health, this is the first case of monkeypox, and the man is in critical condition after suffering a cardiac attack. The patient is an Italian national who is here as a tourist. During his vacation, he lived in a rented house and visited many locations in the country’s western regions.
On August 17, he started experiencing nonspecific symptoms, and on August 18, he went to the doctor since they were bothering him.

During the first medical treatment, the symptoms worsened, prompting an emergency transfer for hospitalisation and intensive care. During the check, skin lesions that clinically suggest monkeypox were discovered, according to the ministry.
