CAIRO, 23 August 2022: Following the launch of the Safe Shores initiative for fishermen and the Silky Hands initiative for carpet makers, the ministry of social solidarity launched the Your Road is Safe initiative for delivery workers on Tuesday, as part of the government’s effort to expand the social safety network among irregular workers.

The project intends to offer them with social insurance, health insurance, and credit if they desire to start their own businesses. In addition, bicycles, motorcycles, and helmets will be delivered in the first phase, which will take place in Alexandria and Cairo. There will also be talks on safe riding.
The cash made available to delivery personnel to support micro and small enterprises amounts to LE2. 8 billion, with 360,000 organisations expected to be financed.

They will be able to choose the length of their membership, the amount they will pay, whether they will pay monthly, quarterly, or yearly, and their retirement age, which might be 55, 60, or 65. The insurance covers more than just pensions; it also covers injuries and death.
This sort of insurance, known as Your Pension in Your Hand, is already available to rural workers in 20 governorates.
