Cereal export agreement adds 720,000 tons to Ukraine’s food exports

Today, Tuesday, the Ukrainian Ministry of Agriculture reported that around 719,500 tonnes were transported under the grain export agreement by approximately 33 cargo ships departing Ukrainian ports.
The Joint Coordination Center in Turkey, which monitors implementation of the deal, calculated that more than 721,000 tonnes of grain and foodstuffs had been exported from three Ukrainian Black Sea ports since the agreement was made.

Ukraine’s grain exports fell at the commencement of the Ukrainian conflict on February 24, and the country blocked its Black Sea ports, raising global food prices and raising worries of shortages in Africa and the Middle East.
The accord agreed by Moscow and Kiev on July 22 resulted in the opening of three Black Sea ports.

In addition to the ships that have already departed Ukraine, the Ministry of Agriculture reported that 18 additional ships are now being loaded and waiting for authorization to leave Ukrainian ports.
Ukraine’s grain exports might exceed 4 million tonnes in August, up from 3 million tonnes in July, according to the ministry.
According to a second statement from the ministry, exports of Ukraine’s primary agricultural commodities have nearly halved since the beginning of the crisis, compared to the same time in 2021.

A cereal export pact increases Ukraine’s food exports by 720,000 tonnes.
