A fire broke out at an Alexandria church, injuring one person.

CAIRO, 22 August 2022: A person was injured as a fire broke out in the Church of Mary in the Al-Montazah neighbourhood, east of Alexandria’s governorate.
The Director of Alexandria Security, Major General Khaled Al-Barwi, received a communication from the Civil Protection Department reporting that people had reported a fire in a church within the Montazah Third Police Department.
The fire was promptly put out and did not spread to the rest of the church.

According to a security source, the fire was started by an electrical short-circuit in the church’s central air-conditioning system.
On Tuesday, firefighting teams extinguished a fire on the bottom floor of Bishop Beshoy Church in Menya governorate in Upper Egypt, two days after a disastrous fire in Giza’s Imbaba area.
The fire was triggered by an electrical problem, according to the authorities, and no one was hurt. Because it occurred in a closed and empty hall.

Last week, a fire broke out at Abo Sefein Church in Giza Governorate’s Imbaba neighbourhood, killing 41 people and injured 16.
Four fire engines were deployed to the scene to put out the fire, and police cordoned off the area.
Cooling operations were carried out by firefighters to ensure that the fire would not re-ignite as a result of the high temperatures and the presence of large volumes of wood within the church.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi directed that the relevant state institutions take all required measures to deal with the occurrence and its ramifications, as well as provide all types of health care to those impacted.
