WhatsApp may be used on a computer without being connected to a phone.

According to the Verge website, the new WhatsApp programme for Windows computers no longer requires it to be tethered to the phone in order to run and send, receive, and synchronise messages.

The WhatsApp website unveiled a new application for Windows in an update, and it became accessible after passing the beta phase to be downloaded through the Microsoft Store.

Previously, Windows users had to download the desktop web-based programme or use web browsers to access the messaging service. The new programme is designed for Windows and is meant to make the application quicker and more responsive, according to the business.

The new WhatsApp has a slightly different user interface than the previous version of the application, and the most significant change is that there is no longer a requirement to keep the phone connected to the Internet in order to synchronise messages between the phone and the desktop application, and WhatsApp stated that it is currently working on such a native application for macOS as well, in order to work on Apple computers.

The multi-device function is now fully operational and has passed the beta beta level. This feature allows the user to connect four devices to his WhatsApp account without using his phone, and all of them provide end-to-end encryption.

And the WABetaInfo website, which is interested in WhatsApp news, discovered a screenshot from the beta version of WhatsApp on Android in April indicating that the platform may soon add multi-device support for tablets, and WhatsApp currently only allows connecting computers to the user account, so adding support for tablets would be a significant step forward. It appears to be rational.
